Bought this based on all the reviews and misleading advertisement – NOT WHAT I EXPECTED. I wanted a self tanner that lasts for longer than a day. This produt is an instant bronzer – not a long lasting tanner. You look great right after you apply it, but the next day when you shower, all the color rinses off and you’re back to where you started on day 1. DO NOT INHALE THIS STUFF! It is hard to apply – when you spray your stomach, for ex., you end up with areas that are darker than others because the product sprays so heavily and dries too quickly. In order to acheive an evenly distributed color, you have to then apply moisturizer and it is a MESS! I am certain all the positive reviews are from biased people who have investments in the product. The one thing about this stuff that I would give an A+ is that it doesn’t stink. That’s about it.

I have used several self tanners over the years. Most have a bad color, and some even cause severe itching on my skin. Body Drench is the best product I’ve used. Great color–everyone comments on my great tan! It does not cause any skin irritation for me either. Just make sure it is sprayed the recommended distance from skin and rub any excess into skin. Great product.

there is a MAJOR misrepresentation here: nowhere does the product say that this is a TINTED self-tanner. but that’s exactly what it is! it is meant to give you an instant color that washes off after a few hours if you take a shower. like the Clarins tinted tanner for legs, for example.

soooo disappointed. i have tried a lot of self tanners, and this one is NOWHERE NEAR even the regular CVS ones like Neutrogena or L’oreal Sublime bronze. i didn’t notice any mess as stated by other reviewers, but the worst part of it is that it is so dry that it simply does NOT spread easily over the skin. it was very annoying, i didn’t like using it at all. you have to rub and rub and rub! the best way to spread a self tanner is to mix it with some lotion so it covers the skin evenly, especially on the critical areas like the ankles and the wrists. well it is really hard to make this happen with this product, as you always end up with darker spots here and there. and forget about covering your back yourself. i use a Home Depot painting brush with a long handle to cover my back with self tanner, but that one was a hopeless case to use with the brush.

On the other hand, the fact that it is very dry does NOT mean it is quickly absorbed by the skin. Not at all. you need to apply it and wear some old clothes otherwise you will get stains everywhere, even after 4 hours.

the only good thing about it is that it turns dark, not orangy. however the color does not last longer than other products. but hell, Lancome Flash Bronzer Airbrush (THE BEST!) does that and gives you a delicious golden color without all the rubbing, the staining, and the delayed drying. plus i found that one here at a great price. So i am back to it.

in all honesty, i feel ripped off because i think that most positive reviews have been written by people working at that company. i have a hard time believing that a real self tanning junkie can be sooo crazy about such a cheap product. total waste of $. but now you are warned.

Pros: Does not turn you orange, very quick to apply and dry. Smells good (Vanilla).

Cons: You actually have to rub once you spray because the spray tends to be too hard/much and drips down. Don’t wear white clothes if you think you’ll sweat or it will stain. Does not last 5 days as mentioned.

About two years ago I decided to quit using tanning beds, and after trying about twenty self-tanners I stumbled upon this product. I had been very frustrated with the lack of color I was able to achieve in all the other products. This product was the first that I was able to reach a dark, dark natural tan- and the spray made it easy to avoid the drawbacks of lotions (hand prints, streaks, funny looking lines on hands and feet)…I particularly love the instant glow the product provides, and it was the first that I felt the color didn’t ALL wash off in the shower (ahem..St. Tropez!) I recently stopped using this product (due to causing my bathroom floors and walls turning a dark rust color…oops) I tried many other products, and am BACK to this as my favorite- for the following reasons:

    1. Beautiful, natural DARK color

    2. Easy and QUICK application (I used to apply this in <5 minutes)

    3. Dries quicky, particularly compared to certain lotions (St. Tropez!)

    4. Smells Delicious

    5. Fairly inexpensive (one can should provide 4-5 full body applications- if you are efficient!)

    6. Long-lasting color, easy to maintain

    7. Fades naturally

    CONS:

    1. Stains. Everything. Anything this product hits, it will stain- just the nature of it being a spray. Therefore, one must be creative (I once created a bathroom barricade with old towels). I think the best bet is to purchase a collapsible cheap tan tent (avail. for 30-50 bucks on amazon or Ebay) or spray in the shower then QUICKLY use some elbow grease and bleach to scrub down the shower. I also would have obvious splotchy brown sweat stains on my clothes from this stuff, not very attractive. But this was because I would use the product, then run errands – I never had it rub off badly when I had showered before.

    2. Stains the hair, too. I didn’t use a shower cap the first couple months of use and realized I had stained my hair brown! My stylist was able to remove it, but remember to always use a shower cap (and I use little tan goggles) when applying to the face. It recommends applying it with the hands, but I tried that several times, and it only wasted product and caused a streaky face.

I have found a perfect combination by creating my base tan with Banana Boat Summer Color lotion in Deep/dark and using Quick Tan occasionally to add that perfect natural sun-kissed look.

Banana Boat provides an awesome rich color, but still does not beat the gorgeous hue that Body Drench Quick Tan provides.
